The project 'Effort against Child Rights Violation and for Peace Education' has been extended for a year. The project has been extended in 40 new VDCs and reached in 65 VDCs from July 2014. Th project covers 20 VDCs in Ilam, 10-10 in Panchthar, Taplejung and Jhapa. Likewise, the project covers 15 VDCs in 3 hilly and mountainous districts Terhathum -5, Sankhuwasava-5 and Dhankuta-5 in Koshi zone. The project has set up its districts field offices in the six districts headed by the district coordinators.
The project has been extended for a year after the successful implementation of the one year's pilot phase of the project which could bring massive awareness, empower and mobilize local peace incentives, initiate democratic practice, declare school as peace zone, and ensure child rights and provide support on governance through public hearing and local resource mobilization.
Staff Orientation Organized:
17 Staffs were selected and trained on project. The staffs are now mobilized to carry out the context mapping of the existing and new VDCs. The project is focused on reducing child rights violation to ensure the practice of child rights through non violent way and to promote peace through peace education campaign. Project coordinator, district coordinators, activists, finance officers and radio unit participated in the orientation program. Shikhar Nath Sapkota, Nawaraj Sankhar, Yoga Raj Sapkota, B B Khadka and Kopila Karki facilitated the orientation.
The project is being conducted by HURF Nepal with support of Kindermissionswerk, Germany and in coordination with seven local partner organizations from the concern districts.
