HURF Nepal and INSEC Ilam jointly organized a quarterly review of human rights situation on 16 October, 2014 in Ilam. INSEC district representative Kokila Dhakal presented the human rights situation report of INSEC where Yoga Raj Sapkota presented the overall human rights situation in Ilam from HURF Nepal.
Both papers highlighted the increased impunity, lack of accountability, and increased crimes and human rights violation in district Ilam. The report shows that violence especially women violence and child rape is increased in this quarter. 50 domestic violence, 57 suicides, 18 rape cases has been recorded within the last 9 months.
Similarly, the participants raised the problem faced by the service seekers in different sectors. CDO Basudev Dahal expressed his commitment to take immediate action and increase monitoring in the raised issues to protect and promote human rights in Ilam. The program was chaired by HURF president Mohan Singh Thebe.
