Updated Child Club in 65 Schools:
50 schools of Mechi zone and 15 schools of Koshi zone (Dhankuta, Tehrathum and Sankhuwasabha) have got their updated CC till now. 20 schools in Ilam including 10 new schools were selected for the update and formation of the child clubs. The CCs, formed last year, updated and in 10 schools new child clubs formed.
Likewise 15 child clubs have been formed in 3 districts of Mechi zone where 5 CCs from each districts i.e. Jhapa, Panchthar and Taplejung were updated.
Similarly 15 CCs are formed in 5 VDCs in 3 districts from Koshi zone Dhankuta, Tehrathum and Sankhuwashabha. Each district has got 5 CCs.
All the 65 CCs have got a protection teacher for the regular supervision of the CCs and for advisory role. The CCs will work for the rights of children as the platform for all students.
The CCs are formed under the project, "Effort against Child Rights Violation and for Peace Education". District Coordinators and field activists from the project facilitated the formation of the CCs with presence of the teachers, students and Child rights office from the respective district. The project is being conducted by HURF in 65 Schools and VDCs in 7 districts in eastern Nepal. The project is supported by Kindermissionwerk Germany.

Journalists Orientation in 7 Districts:
Existing and potential issues of children of Eastern Nepal are oriented and discussed with the journalists of Mechi and Koshi zone in November 2014. Different 19 existing and potential issues major issues focusing on the child rights were discussed with journalists in an event in district level in 7 districts. More than 100 journalists and media persons from national and local media actively took part in the discussion. Devendra Biswakarma and Yoga Raj Sapkota, facilitators from HURF, facilitated the orientation. The journalists expressed that they have got the new sectors to raise the voice especially the crucial issues of children welfare. In addition, participants were informed about the fellowship of the project as well. 'Two journalists from each district will be selected for the fellowship program based on their proposal.' said Thakur Shrestha the project coordinator of HURF Nepal. The orientation events were organized under the project "Effort against Child Rights Violation and for Peace Education" which is being conducted by HURF in 65 Schools and VDCs in 7 districts in eastern Nepal. The project supported by Kindermissionwerk Germany.

Orientation for Protection Teachers in Mechi
Protection teachers from newly formed child clubs of 25 schools in 4 districts in Mechi zone got two days orientation at HURF on 1st and 2nd December 2014. According to the program coordinator Thakur Shrestha the main contents of the training are 'works, duties and responsibilities of protection teacher', 'rights and human rights', 'national and international laws on child rights sector', 'child rights and peace education', 'psychosocial support' 'child friendly local governance' etc.
The training unit of HURF facilitated the program. The chief guest of the program was DEO and the guest facilitator was CRO.
The program was conducted under the project "Effort against Child Rights Violation and for Peace Education" supported by Kindermissionswerk Germany.

A 4 days CC Training on Peace Education:
The members of newly formed Child Clubs of Ilam and Jhapa districts in Mechi zone were trained at HURF from 4th to 7th Dec 2014. District coordinator (Ilam) Rudra Thebe said "there were 30 students from 15 schools of Ilam and jhapa participated the training. 2 CC members from each CC participated the training. Altogether 10 CCs from Ilam and 5 from Jhapa Participated. The training was focused on 'rights and human rights', 'national and international laws on child rights sector', 'child rights and peace education', 'psychosocial support', 'child friendly local governance,' 'role of CCs' 'Child Rights Radio Program of HURF' etc."
