144 human rights defenders has been developed and mobilized in VDC level in 3 districts in Mechi zone. The defenders were developed under the campaign "One VDC one Defender" which has covered all VDCs and Municipalities in the 3 districts. The defenders were developed in Ilam, Panchthar, and Taplejung districts. The defenders were trained on human rights and human rights based reporting. The defenders will carry out human rights monitoring, documentation and reporting to the concern stakeholders. Furthermore, they will conduct awareness on rights and human rights as well as advocacy in their respective VDCs/Municipalities. A district level network in each district has been developed at the end of the project.
The project has been conducted since October2014 and has carried out its all activities. The project has been conducted with support of ZFD-GIZ.
