HURF Releases Human Rights Situation in Ilam
HURF Nepal and INSEC jointly organized a district level interaction to collect feedback for INSEC's Human Rights Situation Year Book 2017 and the overall situation of human rights in Ilam between Jan- June 2016, on 17 June 2016, at HURF Hall Ilam.  INSEC district representative Kokila Dhakal presented a paper with the representative cases recorded within six month. The report shows that the number of women violence, children violence, criminal cases are in increasing trend. Likewise the number of suicide cases are increased, where number of strike /Bandh is decreased in the last six months.
Yoga Raj Sapakota, on behalf of HURF Nepal presented a paper entitled 'the overall situation of Human Rights in Ilam District ' raising the current burning issues. The report explains that the situation of the victim women especially rape victim is vulnerable, that they are still being not getting proper socialization in their family and society. Likewise, it is said that the issues of rights to information, budget mobilization and quality of the project activities of the government especially local resource mobilization are not effective enough. Furthermore, issues of transparency, accountability, users rights and quality food, increased market prices, child labour and wages disparities, drinking water and health services, senior citizen's agendas and the status of children is vulnerable.   The report also highlighted the increment of domestic violence. 
Official and representatives of district education office, District Public Health Centre  and the district level political leaders responded the raised question and expressed their commitment for the betterment of the situation.
Acting Chief District Officer Sujan Phago, answered the raised issues and expressed his commitment to carry out regular monitoring of market, to discuss with concern stakeholders to address the children and senior citizens issues, to carry out monitoring on the ongoing development activities. Likewise, SP Sunil Bahadur Yadav, expressed his commitment to take priority to the issues of children, to work against criminal activities, and to maintain the traffic more effectively. Chair, HURF vice president, B B Khadka expressed the need of collective effort to protect and promote human rights situation. District level political parties, line agencies, CBOs, NGOs, journalists and civil society leaders and representatives participated in the interaction.
