H.E. Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany Matthias Meyer visited HURF Nepal on 15 September, 2016. HURF President Mohan Singh Thebe welcomed the ambassador and deputy chief of the mission on the occasion. Thebe said that the cooperation between HURF and Gov of Germany started since 2008 and is being continued till the date. The cooperation could develop local resources on peace, mediation, psychosocial counseling, Non violent communication, debate facilitation, human rights, child rights, women empowerment, and forum theatre to contribute for sustainable peace. He added the need of institutionalization of the existing investment of cooperation developing HURF as a professional resource centre and as a Peace Hub.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Ambassador Jacquellen Groth said that she was familiar with the work of HURF Nepal and HURF is known as one of the most active organization in the eastern Nepal.
H.E. Ambassador Meyer said,' Peace workers and defenders are my family members and HURF is my home. Issues of Human Rights and peace are the basic needs for a country and the government of Germany is always ready to support on such issues that promotes human rights and governance. Thus, I express my commitment to provide all sort of support to HURF from Embassy of Germany." 'We not only talk but also do, what we say", he said.
It was the second official visit of the government of the Federal Republic of Germany, that the then Ambassador, H.E. Frank Makey had visited HURF on 23 March, 2014 as well.
