VDC level Workshop with Civil Society

HURF in coordination with VDC and in support of Open Society Foundation organized two days VDC level policy workshop with civil Society on 5-6, 8-9 and 11-12 of May in Ibhang, Sulubung and Godak respectively. The policy workshop was aimed to discuss on the issues of Women Rights, Dalit Rights, existing policies and their process of implementation, major gaps between practice and policy and the role of civil society. In addition, it was also aimed to discuss the existing and potential problem of dalits and women and to draft a VDC level plan for dalits and women. In the workshop 20 participants including political leaders, stakeholders and social activists of all wards from three VDCs had an active participation.
The program was divided in three sessions: opening session, training session and closing session. The program was chaired by VDC secretary of the respective VDCs. The opening session was held in participatory approach by lightining candle. In the training session,Mr. Yograj Sapkota and Mr. Ishwor Lungeli, facilitator of the program facilitated on the issues of women and dalits, the existing policies and the process of implementation. Group discussion was held for the context mapping of the target group and to find out the existing and potential problems of the target group. The need of the target group was analyzed through group discussion.
The program was effective as stated by the participants and VDC secretaries of respective VDCs. Mr. Subash Dahal, VDC secretary of Sulbung stated that the program was a complete road map which will help in the planning process of VDC for the target group. Through the joint effort and discussion a draft plan was prepared where they came in decision of preparing profile of target group firstly and then analyzing the need of target group and prepare a periodic plan in the upcoming days for the effective implementation of the allocated budget. This draft plan will be presented in the VDC level planning workshop.
