HURF Nepal with financial support of District Coordination Committee under LGCDP project recently organized 8 days basic training for the Community Mediation Committees in Ilam Municipality. The training has developed 18 trained mediators in Ilam Municipality. The training was based on the curricula of the Mediation Council. The training participants were provided certificate by HoN, District Judge, Nawaraj Dahal in a formal closing ceremony. Local Development Officer congratulated the trained members on the occasion. The Closing ceremony was chaired by HURF's President Mohan Singh Thebe.
Along with this training, All former VDCs & Municipalities have now trained CMCs. HURF Nepal has trained 40 ( 37 CMCs in Ilam with support of DFID, GIZ &SDC, & 3 CMCs with support of DCC) Community Mediation Committees  within its journey on mediation since 2001. 8 CMCs were trained by other organizations.  HURF has trained 40 CMCs with 643 trained mediators until the date. The CMCs were formed by VDCs and DDCs with technical support of HURF Nepal. The trained mediators have been providing their volunteer services to the poor and marginalized in their communities. Beside the CMCs HURF Nepal has trained 36 Local Peace Committees in 6 districts with more than 600 mediators.
