HURF organizes Central level Discussion on Practices on child rights

A central level workshop was organized with central level stakeholders to share and sensitize the central level stakeholders about practices of HURF in province-1 on 27 July 2018 in Kathmandu. Province law makers, Associate Secretary from Central children welfare board, section officer of ministry of social development branch of province 1, province resource person of province 1 & 3, vice president of central NGO federation, organizations and networks working in children from other provinces participated in the workshop. HURF child program coordinator, Mr. Rudra Thebe presented a paper on the practices of HURF and current progress in province 1. He quoted that the project has supported to achieve its missions incorporating its campaign in government's policies and the local governments also got profit from HURF's support on making child protection procedure. HURF had prepared a raw model of child protection procedure to legalize the work of local government and to institutionalize the issue of child rights. The procedure has been passed in many municipalities in 10 districts in province 1. CCWB resource person of province 1 Suman Adhikari presented a paper on " efforts on child protection in province 1, challenges and opportunities" quoting procedure making support of HURF found praiseworthy for the province government and he added the developed procedure should be widely distributed to other province to address the current gaps of the local government. Member of province parliament Mr. Ram Rana said that the effort of HURF has supported to the policy making of province government, he added that he had been participating on these project activities since the beginning and it is supported for province's policy. The developed and implemented procedures will be legitimized by the province. Member of province parliament Mr Laxman Tiwari said that he was also actively participated to implement the child procedure in Terhathum district that the procedure has supported to trace a clear way for local governments and fulfilled the gap of lack of law in local government. The procedure and planning are the backbone to the province government's mission to make first child friendly province.  Officer of CCWB expressed that the practice of province 1 are useful and CCWB would recommend the practice in other province.
