District Level Orientation on DV Act
HURF Nepal, in coordination of Eastern Network against Domestic Violence and with support of GIZ/SUNAG organized orientation program in district level on 10 October, 2012 in Ilam. Chief of the district level political parties, line agencies, indigenous leaders, women activists, NGO activists, police officers, bar associations, journalists and civil society participated in the orientation. The program remained interactive. 3 papers were presented on which Ms. Renuka Rai, Program Manager ofWRG program, HURF Nepal presented a paper about the HURF's experience in the field of DV and current issues. Similarly Women Development Officer presented the situation of DV in the district including the experiences of WDO. 
Mr. Manoj KC, Ass. Registered, of bar of Appeal Court presented a paper " DV Act -2066, its Effective Implementation and Role of Stakeholders". Mr. Shekhar Chandra Aryal, Hon'ble Judge, District Court Ilam, commented on the papers. Participants actively took part on the plenary discussion raising important feedbacks and comments. Political leaders expressed their commitment to work and support for the effective implementation of DV Act. Mr. Jeevan Gurung, Senior Program Officer, GIZ/SUNAG expressed that the program brought common consensus on DV issues among district level interaction. The chief guest Hon'ble chief justice of Appeal court requested to all to feel DV as their own issue. 
The program was chaired by Mr. Mohan Singh Thebe, President of HURF Nepal.
