HURF Nepal awarded journalist Daman Rai, with 6th Human Rights Journalist of the year 2019 on the occasion of international human rights day on 10 December, 2019. HURF awarded Mr. Rai with 10,000 rupees with a felicitation letter for his active reporting on the issues of Human rights in specific sectors especially children, women, maternal care, development and communities, foreign employment and trafficking. Mr. Rai is actively raising voice of voiceless from the Khotang for 13 years. HURF has been awarding 1 journalist from province 1 since 2014 and Mr. Rai is the 6th awardee. Awardee Rai expressed that the award encouraged him to work more on the issues of fundamental rights and their status of implementation provisioned in constitution and he would follow them in the days ahead. The ceremony was chaired by HURF president Mohan Singh Thebe.
