5 days training of the trainers for the professional mediators was conducted from 5- 9, February, 2014 at Antu Dada Ilam. 17 facilitators and mediators participated in the training. The training remained practical which was focused on the issues and problems which are being faced by the mediators while dealing with conflict. Conflict, Group Mediation, Mass mediation, Power Mediation, Mediators’ attitude etc, were the content of the training. Combination of several role plays, group discussions, games and input made the lively learning environment. The training was facilitated by Ms. Barbara Jochheim, Peace Advisor at HURF Nepal, from Civil Peace Program ZFD- GIZ.
3 groups of trained professionals were formed to have sharing and exchange among the mediators at the end of the training. Mr. Mohan Singh Thebe, President of HURF Nepal and the Chair of the closing session acknowledged to the facilitators for the useful skills that has been brought from her more than 3 decades long experiences in the field of conflict. Furthermore, he expressed his commitment to keep the newly learned skills lively in Nepalese society, expressing hope of the active involvement of the trained mediators in conflict resolution in the future.
