A district level interaction between community mediators and district level stakeholders held on 18th February, 2014 at HURF Hall Ilam. The aim of the program was to discuss about the program "Mediation for Peace and Social Justice" which was conducted in 30 VDCs in District Ilam. A report about the project was discussed for the feedbacks and way forward of the project. The interaction decided that the project remained successful and has to be extended since it has been supported to increase access to justice to poor and marginalized people in VDC level through trained mediators who handle conflict through non violence manner. The Chief Distrcit Officer in Ilam, Local Development Officer, and leaders of political parties and NGO Federation extended the need of the extension of the project in other VDCs in the districts highlighting that the mediators are supporting to the state and burden of the legal institution such as Court, VDCs, DAO has been decreased. 
477 cases were mediated within the period of last 17 months, through the trained mediators which needed at least 3 years for a court said the CDO.  The VDC secretaries expressed that there is the need of the community mediators and Community Mediation Committee in the absence of the elected bodies in VDCs. Furthermore they highlighted need of the sustainable development of this committee after the local election.
The program was conducted under the project 'Mediation for Peace and Social Justice" with support of SDC. Representative of the Embassy of Switzerland monitored the program.
